Ghyachok School Health Education and Sanitation Project in ward 4, 7 and 9 of Ghyachok VDC in Gorkha District was completed two years ago. Around five hundred pupils were benefited from the project in three schools two primary schools namely Dewalswanra and Mahadevsthan and a Dhansira high school. All the schools have separate toilets for girls and boys and access to safe drinking water. Ghyachok VDC is known as first ever village having universal WASH coverage in Nepal.

The film where WaterAid is calling for everyone has access to clean water and safe place to go to the toilet. Watch the short film on why the next set of global development goals should ensure that no one goes without these basic necessities. This film was first shown in Monrovia, Liberia to members of the High Level Panel of eminent persons advising the UN Secretary General on the framework for the Post 2015 process.

One hundred eighteen households at Hartalihat Tole Ward Number 19 in Biratnagar Sub-Metropolitan, Morang District squatter area have no access to toilet. Lumanti Support Group for Shelter is working to provide in accessing basic sanitation at the area which will benefit around 800 marginalised people living in the squatter.

सोलार प्रविधिबाट खानेपानी आयोजना सञ्चालन

९ माघ, इलाम । इलामको बाँझो गाविस वडा नम्बर ६ को रक्से बजारमा जिल्लामै पहिलोपटक सोलार पम्पिङबाट खानेपानी आयोजना सञ्चालन भएको छ । अग्लो डाँडामा रहेको रक्से बजारलाई लक्षित गरेर सोलार पम्पिङ सञ्चालन गरिएको हो । यसअघि त्यहाँका बासिन्दालाई करिब पाँच किलोमिटर टाढा रहेको साकफाराबाट ल्याएको पानीले जीवनयापन गर्नुपर्दा ज्यादै समस्या भएको थियो, उपभोक्ता समितिका सदस्य किरण राईले भन्नुभयो ‘सोलारबाट पानी तान्न थालेपछि स्थानीय बासिन्दालाई राहत मिलेको छ ।’

Community members removing HDP pipe from "Ferro Cement Tank". The reservoir tank (20 thousand liters capacity) is under construction. It will serve 50 households at Nala, Ugrachandi VDC in Kavre district. This is one out of three rehabilitation works of water supply schemes on-going. The schemes will serve around 120 households in accessing safe drinking. Earlier the drinking water project supported by WaterAid twenty years ago in the village is still functioning however required rehabilitation to address increased population. The rehabilitation work funded by HSBC Water Programme is ongoing in coordination with a NGO working for integrated urban development - CIUD. The rehabilitation of three water scheme is expected to complete within FY 12/13.
